First Stock Market Challenge is a Huge Success

Junior Achievement of Southwest Connecticut had its first-ever Stock Mark Challenge event for high school students this past spring. Arlene Viscomi, marketing director for JA of Southwest Connecticut in Norwalk, said the event was a huge success and it was attended by 48 teams of 169 students. Arlene received the following email from one of their teachers following the event, a perfect summation of what JA stands for.

I cannot say enough great things about the JA Stock Market Challenge. It was by far one of the best authentic educational experiences for my students. They are raving about it today--how much fun they had and how they really got to experience the pressure and frustration and how fast-paced the environment was on the trading floor!

I observed each student engaged, making decisions, strategizing and using their critical thinking, teamwork, and analytical skills to work together in this challenge. As a teacher it was such a meaningful experience that I hope to have every year! The energy in the room was incredible!

I really appreciate you inviting Stamford High School and giving these students the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile event. My students actually thanked me for this field trip!

Thank you so much!
