JA of North Louisiana Wins the 2015 Phoenix Award

The Phoenix Award is presented to a JA Area that has turned from a struggling market to high performing. Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, so too has this JA Area!

The 2015 Phoenix Award goes to Junior Achievement of North Louisiana in Shreveport!

This office has been thriving since hiring their new president, Nita Cook. She has been able to grow the programs from 2,600 students in 2010 to almost 7,000 students this year. Nita has built a solid foundation with the operations, and strives for success in all facets of the business, instituting new fundraising and awareness programs that have allowed for program growth. In addition to the fact that student impact has almost tripled, their funds have also kept pace.

Their JA Area came off of COD in July 2013, and their budget has increased from $136,000 in revenue generation to more than $320,000! And, their endowment now sits at a healthy fund balance of more than $500,000.

The board of directors likes to call this the "Nita Effect!" Nita has taken on every challenge and managed to also receive the Five Star Award for 2014-15!
