Junior Achievement Gives Student a "Better Understanding of the Reality of Life"

Tom Russell, president of Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania in York, Pa., recently shared a note his office received from the parent of a high school student at Central Dauphin High School (CDHS) in Harrisburg, Pa. The heartfelt note expressed the mother's appreciation for JA of South Central Pennsylvania's financial literacy program, which helped her daughter realize the sacrifices she has made for her. Here is the note:

The seminar the school held for the students last week regarding finances was amazingly eye opening for Haley and also for her friends. I truly hope that CDHS continues to provide this for the students going forward. (I have a seventh grader this year and would love for her to be exposed to this as well.)

Haley learned so much and now has a better understanding of the reality of life, money, jobs, income, prices of products, utilities, etc. The sweet child expressed how much she respected me that night for being able to be a single mom and make everything come together. She and I spoke in depth.

Haley said, "I am never moving out! I won't be able to afford anything." (Junior Achievement) really helped Haley to understand why college is a MUST!
